VALENTINES
PARTY WAS A GREAT SUCCESS!!! February 16, 2008
Our Valentine’s Party dinner, Feb. 16th, at Amici Bistro was wonderful
from the hors d'oeuvres all the way through the crisp Caesar Salad, main
course, and concluding with coffee and delicious dessert. Our
compliments to the chef and owner, Gianni Saffioti!
Thirty eight club members attended the dinner. Prize winners were:
Lynne Dauenhauer, gift certificate to Sockeye’s Restaurant; Swan Seaberg,
gift certificate to Amici Bistro. Don Dauenhauer and Laurie Green
won beautiful heart shaped boxes of Valentine chocolates. Many members
won STP (Seattle to Portland) cycling vests, compliments of Cascade
Bicycle Club.
This was my first year chairing the Valentine Dinner and I really
enjoyed doing it. I want to thank all of those who attended.
To those of you who won cycling apparel, Wendell says; "See you in the
bike lane!"
Thanks to Laurie Green for taking the photos you see below.

Wine, Cheese And Winners ...
April 4th
The MYC annual wine and cheese party was enjoyed by 52 members and
guests Friday, April 4th. The club was decorated especially for this
event, with grape colors, wreaths, lights, garlands and more. Everyone
tasted a wide variety of wines and cheeses, plus cookies, chocolates and
fruit, and then voted for their favorite wine and cheese.
“Other” wine winner was a 2004 medium dry blackberry wine made by Marty
Eidbo, with grapes he picked from the ravine in front of Bob McBride’s
house in Mukilteo. Best white wine was Colleen and Duane Crowley’s 2006
Lake Chelan Winery’s Gewurtztraminer. Favorite red wine was Bruce
Fabert’s 2005 “The Jack”, a red blend from Saviah Cellars in Walla
Walla. Prizes for winning wines were wine glass markers.
First place cheese was Laura and Dan Jacoby’s French Brillat Savarin
with herbs. Their prize was a cheesetheme glass cutting board and grape
patterned hand towel. Second place went to Rhoda Sluys’ cheese bread
with horseradish. She received a cheese-theme serving tray and grape
patterned hand towel. Third place was Rhonda and Rob Snyder’s Stilton
Blue from Trader Joe’s. The prize was a set of bamboo coasters.
Rhoda Sluys won the door prize – a collection of wine accessories,
including wine and champagne openers, stoppers and wine glass markers.
Thanks to everyone attending for making the party a success. Special
thanks to Rhoda Sluys and Jolly Higman for helping with setup; Cindy
Mikk for donating grape hand towels and the wine accessory door prize;
Bruce Fabert for opening wines; Donna Seaberg and Bruce Fabert for
counting ballots; Grog Gang bartenders Mo and Roy Dorsey, Kathy and
Courtney Tharp; everyone who helped clean up and remove decorations.
All help was appreciated.
See you next year!
